What is Baja Camp Cooks?

We are an organization that offers food and camping services to American and Canadian groups that serve in Mexico on short-term mission trips.

How long has Baja Camp Cooks been around?

Baja Camp Cooks (formerly Camping Pros) has been around since 1999 and has worked with over 600 mission-trip groups in Mexico.

Where do you provide your services?

We work with all types of mission trip groups at ministry bases, orphanages, and campgrounds throughout the northern region of Baja California and Sonora Mexico.

Who is Amor Ministries & What is your relationship to them?

Many of our trips are in conjunction with Amor Ministries, a ministry that sends short-term work teams to build homes in Mexico. Groups signed up with them have an option to use our food and camping services. We have been a big supporter of Amor Ministries throughout the years and continue to support their vision.

Do you have to be signed up with Amor to use your services?

No, we provide our services anywhere your mission trip takes you. If you are working with a ministry, orphanage or mission trip organization, let them know you want to use Baja Camp Cooks for your food (and tenting) service needs.

How do I book your services?

Call (858) 312-6777 or submit a proposal request and we will email a proposal to review. Please let Amor Ministries or any other organization you are working with know that you intend on using Baja Camp Cooks so they can plan accordingly.

Food Service

What’s included in your food service?

Our Food Service includes all your group’s food and beverages prepared by our onsite staff.

What type of food do you serve?

We serve a hearty combination of Tex-Mex and traditional American food served buffet style. See Menus

Do you accommodate special Dietary needs?

Yes, between utilizing what we already have from our other menu items and complimenting them with specialty items from the U.S., we can accommodate most special dietary needs. See Special Dietary Needs

Where do you purchase your food?

All our food comes from reputable distributors and grocery chains in both the U.S. and Mexico. Meats and specialty items are bought exclusively in the U.S.

How is lunch served if we travel to the job sites?

We set up a lunch line (deli buffet and snacks) every morning before and during breakfast with everything needed to build your own bagged lunches. We provide large coolers to store and/or transport your lunches as well as 5 gallon igloos of cold drinking water and Gatorade.

Are the meals you serve safe to eat?

Yes, aside from purchasing our food from reputable companies, our staff has many years of experience preparing safe, quality food.

Is the water you serve safe to drink?

Yes, we purchase all our water (and ice) from Ultra Pura, the largest distributor of purified drinking water in Baja California.

What time are meals served?

We work around your schedule but you can find a typical food schedule from an Amor mission trip here.

Can we take food to the families we are building houses for?

No, as much as we would love to feed the families the food we serve is strictly for the paying participants. It is possible to purchase extra meals ahead of time for the families you are serving. (Please call for details)

Are the meals all you can eat?

Yes, however we ask that you please serve yourself moderate meal portions the first time through the line to give everyone a chance to try the entire menu.

How do you know what meals are going to be served?

Menus for the following day are always posted in front of our kitchen area. Typically, we serve meals in the same order as it is listed on our menu page.

Do you provide tables and chairs?

Yes, we provide seating for your entire group.

Tent Option

What’s included in your tent option?

In addition to all your food service needs, our tenting option includes complete setup, maintenance and takedown of all of your group’s tent accommodations. Each tent includes two-inch-thick sleeping and sleeping bag rentals are available.

What type of tents do you use?

We setup dome-style tents that can accommodate up to 3 people (though 2 is ideal). Most tents are around 10′ x 8′.

How many tents do you provide?

We provide 1 tent for every 2 people in your group (rounding up). You can move sleeping cushions around to accommodate any sleeping assignments you have. (Ex. 3 people in one tent and 1 person in another) Additional tents are available for $35 per tent.

What type of sleeping pads do you use?

We use 2-inch thick exercise cushions. Each cushion is 6 feet long and 2 feet wide. Additional mats are available upon request.

What if something happens to my tent?

Tents often take a beating from the elements. Should you encounter any issues with your tent please speak any of our staff and we be more than happy to fix or replace it on the spot.

Do you rent tents, mats, or sleeping bags only?

No, our tent option is only available to groups signed up with our food service.

Can we bring an air mattress?

Participants are more than welcome to bring additional padding or an air mattress to sleep on.
